My Hair

This is a scheduled post. So by the time you read this, I'll be heading towards the beach! Yeah holidays! and yeah sexy beach! LOL! Ok, while I'm relaxing, please help yourself reading my blog=)

So first up, a little history of my hair.

I've always had long hair for as long as I can remember. I went to kindy (kindergarten) at the age of 3 and everyday I would have 2 ponytails on each side of my head.

My kindy actually performs for events, such as dancing and singing & others. So it also means that being in that kindy make you another performer of theirs. We would usually tie our hair up in a bun or 2 side braids or french braids for the performances. Typical child look lar if you ask me.

My hair is solid black with a bit of shine to it. Well every kid has healthy hair so it's really just a norm. But as I get older, my hair kind of lose its black and turn slightly brownish. So I have more to dark brown hair instead of black now.

I think it's because of the dramatic increase of hours of exposure to sunlight during my secondary school. Joined scout since Sec 1 and hair colour got bleached from the sun after that. I called it "natural bleach". LOL!

But it's quite pretty leh, I mean comparing to black hair, I like dark brown more. It doesn't look so dead. But unfortunately, I can only have dark brown hair while I'm under the sun.

I've always have fine, thick hair. It can be easily straightened or curled. I would say that I'm very blessed for having such nice hair.

However, the curls would never last longer than half an hour without using any products before or after curling! It's kind of frustrating for me because sometimes you just want to give it a natural curl for a night out without going all out with the spray or mousses to keep the curls stay.

And sometimes, even if I used hair spray or mousses it also won't last half day or so. *frustrated*

I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but it really is a problem for us too when we want to maintain our styled hair for the whole day or to attend some events where pictures will be taken. Who wants to look fugly with something that looks like undone curls in pictures right?

So I first went to this saloon introduced by a friend of mine, (it's a he, LOL, don't know if you think it's a bit weird but I do now when comes to think of it. HAHA sorry ah yaw! > <) and Cutting Edge The Hair Saloon is the name.

(Mind you that this is NOT a sponsored post and I'm not being paid to write anything about them in this post)

It was back in 2010 when I step foot this saloon and it has been my one and only for almost 2years now. I had my first hair dye here too. You know the feeling of having your hair being dye for the first time? Feeling intimidated with bright colours and will always go for dark brown first. Well, I'm just like anyone else. And my "virgin hair" got dyed brown. HAHA!

Who is this? Let me introduce her to you. This is me in 2011. LOL=) The colour turned out great!

I looked not as pale as before. But the hair condition was dreadful. My hair became coarse like dried grass! But luckily with the help of regular conditioning it gradually back to normal after a month. It really scares me to death when I washed my hair for the first time after coloured. = =ll

This is after I dyed into copper a week or so before CNY 2012 (Chinese New Year).

During CNY

Like I said earlier, the sunlight brings out the colour. When you went to the saloon and get your hair dyed to your colour of choice but under the sun it turned out to be few shades lighter than what you see in the saloon. Quite horrible right? To see that sometimes. It might be too red or too yellow. HAHA! And in my case, it turn out too RED to my liking.

I'm not sure if it's the colour is really copper, but my stylist told me that. I went to Watson a week or two after that and there were those hair samples for the boxes of hair dyes on the shelves, so I tried to compare mine with them. And guess what? My hair matches the colour of burgundy, = = which is some sort of red wine colour or reddish purple.

And as for this time round, my hair colour fades like crazy every time I washed it for over a month! *faints* People do say that reds are bound to fade easily. But I don't expect to be THAT easily!!

However, I'm quite happy with the colour after they all faded away. Because my previous hair colour was brown, so after the red faded, it become brownish red. Which for me, it's quite flattering. =)

Just few days ago an idea struck me. I want to dye THIS colour for my hair!!

With highlights and low lights would be nice! (Image taken from Google Image)

I'm not sure whether it would suit my skin tone as I have langsat skin. (typical Asian skin tone) Have asked my stylist on that matter and they say that's the popular colour at the moment. Why every time I asked them about some colours or styles they would always tell me it's the popular thing at the moment?! Got so zhun or not? My taste really THAT in mer? I doubt. =x LOL!

Anyway, I'm still indecisive whether or I should go for it. And maybe I will just stick to brown at last. But still, I have like half year to go before I dye my hair again, so i guess I'll just go check out a few more colour to choose from.

Went to the saloon again after few months MIA (I want to grow my hair longer so I avoid going =D). If you follow me on my Twitter or Instagram (@vanessa_chong) you might have already seen some of the pics below.
