My Hair

This is a scheduled post. So by the time you read this, I'll be heading towards the beach! Yeah holidays! and yeah sexy beach! LOL! Ok, while I'm relaxing, please help yourself reading my blog=)

So first up, a little history of my hair.

I've always had long hair for as long as I can remember. I went to kindy (kindergarten) at the age of 3 and everyday I would have 2 ponytails on each side of my head.

My kindy actually performs for events, such as dancing and singing & others. So it also means that being in that kindy make you another performer of theirs. We would usually tie our hair up in a bun or 2 side braids or french braids for the performances. Typical child look lar if you ask me.

My hair is solid black with a bit of shine to it. Well every kid has healthy hair so it's really just a norm. But as I get older, my hair kind of lose its black and turn slightly brownish. So I have more to dark brown hair instead of black now.

I think it's because of the dramatic increase of hours of exposure to sunlight during my secondary school. Joined scout since Sec 1 and hair colour got bleached from the sun after that. I called it "natural bleach". LOL!

But it's quite pretty leh, I mean comparing to black hair, I like dark brown more. It doesn't look so dead. But unfortunately, I can only have dark brown hair while I'm under the sun.

I've always have fine, thick hair. It can be easily straightened or curled. I would say that I'm very blessed for having such nice hair.

However, the curls would never last longer than half an hour without using any products before or after curling! It's kind of frustrating for me because sometimes you just want to give it a natural curl for a night out without going all out with the spray or mousses to keep the curls stay.

And sometimes, even if I used hair spray or mousses it also won't last half day or so. *frustrated*

I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but it really is a problem for us too when we want to maintain our styled hair for the whole day or to attend some events where pictures will be taken. Who wants to look fugly with something that looks like undone curls in pictures right?

So I first went to this saloon introduced by a friend of mine, (it's a he, LOL, don't know if you think it's a bit weird but I do now when comes to think of it. HAHA sorry ah yaw! > <) and Cutting Edge The Hair Saloon is the name.

(Mind you that this is NOT a sponsored post and I'm not being paid to write anything about them in this post)

It was back in 2010 when I step foot this saloon and it has been my one and only for almost 2years now. I had my first hair dye here too. You know the feeling of having your hair being dye for the first time? Feeling intimidated with bright colours and will always go for dark brown first. Well, I'm just like anyone else. And my "virgin hair" got dyed brown. HAHA!

Who is this? Let me introduce her to you. This is me in 2011. LOL=) The colour turned out great!

I looked not as pale as before. But the hair condition was dreadful. My hair became coarse like dried grass! But luckily with the help of regular conditioning it gradually back to normal after a month. It really scares me to death when I washed my hair for the first time after coloured. = =ll

This is after I dyed into copper a week or so before CNY 2012 (Chinese New Year).

During CNY

Like I said earlier, the sunlight brings out the colour. When you went to the saloon and get your hair dyed to your colour of choice but under the sun it turned out to be few shades lighter than what you see in the saloon. Quite horrible right? To see that sometimes. It might be too red or too yellow. HAHA! And in my case, it turn out too RED to my liking.

I'm not sure if it's the colour is really copper, but my stylist told me that. I went to Watson a week or two after that and there were those hair samples for the boxes of hair dyes on the shelves, so I tried to compare mine with them. And guess what? My hair matches the colour of burgundy, = = which is some sort of red wine colour or reddish purple.

And as for this time round, my hair colour fades like crazy every time I washed it for over a month! *faints* People do say that reds are bound to fade easily. But I don't expect to be THAT easily!!

However, I'm quite happy with the colour after they all faded away. Because my previous hair colour was brown, so after the red faded, it become brownish red. Which for me, it's quite flattering. =)

Just few days ago an idea struck me. I want to dye THIS colour for my hair!!

With highlights and low lights would be nice! (Image taken from Google Image)

I'm not sure whether it would suit my skin tone as I have langsat skin. (typical Asian skin tone) Have asked my stylist on that matter and they say that's the popular colour at the moment. Why every time I asked them about some colours or styles they would always tell me it's the popular thing at the moment?! Got so zhun or not? My taste really THAT in mer? I doubt. =x LOL!

Anyway, I'm still indecisive whether or I should go for it. And maybe I will just stick to brown at last. But still, I have like half year to go before I dye my hair again, so i guess I'll just go check out a few more colour to choose from.

Went to the saloon again after few months MIA (I want to grow my hair longer so I avoid going =D). If you follow me on my Twitter or Instagram (@vanessa_chong) you might have already seen some of the pics below.

Wish list

As we all know, it’s only few months left before we greet the coming year and I have quite a list of things I wish to have and would like to do before this year ended.

Some wishes I have even brought me back to when I was 7yrs old. So, if those can’t be fulfilled by this year, I think I can wait another few more years^^ (since I already waited for so long right. Hehe)

I know that what I’m going to write will have something similar to a new year’s resolution with all the things that needs to be accomplished and are written at the beginning of the year instead of now with only few months left. But most of them are wishes, so I guess you can have it or add anything whenever I want. LOL

Hopefully, I can tick them all off the list by the end of this year. Then leh, I can have a new list next year. *evil laughs*

I’m not sure whether I should limit it to a certain number of things in the list or not. ‘Cause if it’s too many of them, I doubt that all of them will be ticked off= =ll

But……I guess I can just bring them forward to next year’s new list! YEAH! =D
So with all the jabbering aside, I shall write down a wish list of mine. =) So here goes:
  1. A Sony Alpha NEX-F3  (the item that made me feel like writing this list after seeing it on Cheesie’s blog)
  2. A violin and of course, violin lessons (self practice at this moment can’t be possible for me ‘cause I don’t even touched a violin before T^T)
  3. Open up a restaurant/café/ something lah. A place for people to dine and chill out. For families or just friends hanging out.
  4. A business of my own, whether it’s an online business or others. This is kind of the same as the 3rd so you may feel free to combine them and count them as one wish. (I already had this idea since young. But seriously, I really wanted to become taukenio lor. And come to think of this now, I had this idea since young?! It may have really been my childhood dream or…I may have just day dreamt too much. AHAHAHA!!)
  5. Complete set of makeup perhaps? From the base to the finishing touches on the lips. And not forgetting makeup brushes! I absolutely love to have a full set of it. I’m actually slowly making up to a set already. Baby steps ❤
  6. Oh Oh! A Polaroid Instant camera!
  7. Have my teeth straighten with invisalign (which I think is WAYYY better than normal metal braces)
  8. More income, obviously. If not all the things listed would just stay in here forever. Duh~
  9. Have good health & life, not only me but everyone around me =)
  10. Erm..have savings  that can last me for a year or more if I’m unemployed in the future for some reason that I can’t think of now.
  11. Able to change to a new phone every 2-3yrs?
  12. Have more pretty clothes, shoes?
I think I’m running out of wishes already = =

   13.    To travel more and to other countries.
   14.    Referring to the above, won’t feel sick during flights! Even travelling for an hour plus makes me  dizzy and felt like vomit after landed. Not even sure it’s because of air-sick or what.
   15.    Oh! Not forgetting a laptop. So that I can blog more often at the comforts of my own room =)
   16.   Add on a bag, or several. HAHA. Currently my Santa Barbara is half dead with the leather peeling off near the handle due to the weight it carries everyday =x Sorry baggy!

Okay so basically I have written down everything that came across my mind now. But I’m pretty sure that’s not the end of the list. LOL!

Oh and my birthday is just around the corner, well not that near lar but next month is my birthday month. If you feel like giving me presents, and you don’t know what to give, you might want to consider the things listed above. *being beh paiseh* =p

No lah, just kidding. Haha. How can people get me anything in my list? Those are like expensive items or something I can only achieve by myself for eg: health. How can you give me that right?

And even if you can (don’t know how you going to give it to me too lah 'cause you don't even know who am I), you’re most probably extremely rich and doesn’t know where to spend your money so you spend it on strangers or just insane. =x

^.^ Anyway, I've thought of a few places to celebrate my birthday. Wanted something special, since it's my 21st birthday. But still, I'm working on it. Nice venue means 'nice money' too. This lady is on BUDGET! *sigh* And not forgetting who to invite still. Just wanted a small gathering/party so that also means very limited guests. *headaches*

Well, wish me luck and hopefully it will be at a venue with good lightings so I can take more pictures for you to feast your eyes! =p

Updates

Here are some updates on what I’ve been doing for the past few days, if you’re keen.

I’ve been staying at home lazing around almost every day during the Raya holidays as my bf was working. I know what you’re thinking, but don’t bother telling me that I can go out myself as I’m a very lazy driver, so I rather stay at home then driving out myself. Hehee ^^v

Even so, I’ve been very productive okay! ^^ I’ve cleaned my room and house and try out the Clinique’s sample which I’ve mention in the last post and drafted the next. Hardworking much? Haha.

I’ve done drafting the subsequent post for Clinique and it’s just waiting for the pictures to be included. I kept forgetting to bring the camera to my bf’s house to be uploaded. (I have goldfish memories bah =p)

I’m not particular into photoshop-ing pictures, ‘cause I’m obviously SUCKS at it. *rolls eyes*  But do stay tune for the post ya! *big shiny eyes* =))) And OMG!  I just realized it will be the first photo of myself in this blog! *lame*  Hope it doesn’t scares you off thou =p

First skin consultation with Clinique

(Okay, this post maybe a bit back dated but I'm going to pretend it's not and write it anyway =P).

I ever use samples from Clinique called Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (well I actually got it from my bf's MBO Cinema's Movie Marathon 2010 goodie bag, haha!) The texture was great!

As you can see in the picture, the moisturizer is actually gel like, thus it is not sticky or heavy like other cream or lotion type moisturizer.

I like the fact that it doesn’t feel sticky when applied onto my face because I simply just don't like the sticky or oily feeling on my face. I'm sure that most of you are the same when comes to this.

Okay now, let's talk about Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System. It’s said to be able to get skin clear, smooth, glowing – in just 2 weeks. Guaranteed or your money back! Wao true or not? Haha. But never try never know right? And as the name suggested, the whole skin care is only three steps, cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize.

So recently, I came across an eye catching update of Clinique Malaysia on Facebook. In conjunction of the introduction of the new series (I think it's new 'cause I haven't seen it before this, but I can't confirm that it's definitely new release from Clinique), they are giving out samples on the new 3-Step Skin Care System. (Sorry but the sample redemption has ended on the 9th August. > <)

Before giving you the sample, they would need to consult your skin condition and types so that they could give you the sample that suits your skin type. I’ve never had any consultation on my skin before so I’m all excited and looking forward to it =) It's actually quite fast and after a few questions from the beauty consultant, I have my result. I’m a dry combination.

This was kind of shocking. 'Cause I've always thought that my skin is dry to very dry or oily! *shocked* I really have little to no knowledge on skin cares regimes so I guess I would be forgiven for that. LOL!!

Oh! There are generally 4 skin types. 1)Dry to very dry 2) Dry combi (which would mean having dry skin in general and a bit of oiliness at the T-zone, forehead and nose and spread a little towards the cheeks) 3) Oily 4) Very oily. They do provide skin analysis on their website, so if you’re someone like me who does know much about our own skin, you could check it out here.

Overall I would say that I have good skin, *self praise* but I do need to work hard keeping my face moisturize so there won't be any fine lines appearing soon! OMG! *calms self down*

Okay! So it means more moisturizer, hydrating mask and wash my face daily using CLEANSER (which is hard 'cause I usually just wash with tap water, and I don’t even know that's washing my face or just to slap water onto my face and rub), apply sun protection foundation/BB cream/tinted moiturizer or just anything that has SPF and can protect my skin from the harmful rays.

I haven't start using the sample though, but will keep you updated on the results I get after using, especially the moisturizer. I got 2 for different skin type, dry combi and oily. I told the consultant that I don't like the oily feeling after applying moisturizer. Thus, the 2 moisturizer. (lotion for dry combi skin and gel for oily skin) MUAHAHA!

They are giving out just small sample. By "small", I mean really SMALL, 1.5ml each in a packet. It's like you can only use once for each pack. So I can't guarantee that I can see any effect of it on my face but I will try my best to write down the result after usage. Every single detail of it. =)

Here come pictures of the samples for your eyes so they wouldn’t get tired after reading all of my yadda yadda Clinique experience yadda yadda. HAHA!

The 3-Step Skin Care System I got for my dry combi skin and an extra of moisturizer for oily skin.

See how thin it is!

Around palm size.

And a random picture of my nails. Colors bought at The Face Shop, The Spring.
Nice right? Especially the green. Love it! ❤

The Birth Of My Blog

Yes!

Finally I can have a blog of my own! It's been ages since I start admiring people who writes a blog. But nevermind, NOW I CAN HAS ONE TOO!! *squeals*

Now, the thing is, I wanted to keep memories and experiences or what I have gone through in life, but I could also do that in a journal/diary right? But for me to be able to jot it down for myself to look back to and in the same time share with other people!? How cool is that right?! Okay I know I sound lame, but I'm very new at this and very excited about setting up a blog finally, so bare with me please =]

Actually, I was really really inspired to blog after reading some of the blogs for few years. Quite a few of them actually. I followed them in my profile, so you can just check them out at here. And thanks to them, my blog is born. LOL.

I really did go through quite a lot of shits before today to set up this blog. First, I don't have a computer/laptop/tablet before (I mean I do have but it was too old and lagging when I started wanting to blog) and smartphones haven't been very popular yet and that was only I guess 2 years back? And even it is, I can’t afford a smartphone T^T Second, I don't have any landlines at home, thus no steady internet for me. Okay, maybe two problems are not THAT much.

But.....now it all doesn't matter anymore as I can blog with my bf's laptop. MUAHAHAHA!! I'll just need to drop by his house and BLOG! No biggy. Haha.

And to celebrate my blog's birth, The Universe decided to give me a surprise! I love surprises. Well who doesn't right? Even the smallest one will make me happy =)

I RECEIVED MY EXAM RESULTS JUST AFTER I SET UP THIS BLOG!
(not that I don't know I will be receiving it today. I do know about it few days back and was sooo worried. But I've totally forgotten about it today 'cause I was busying setting up this blog. Blogging DEFINITELY can distract you from your worries I would say, for now I guess. LOL)

AND.............

I PASSED!!*squeals again* *jumps up and down*

Today is a very happy day for me indeed. And I hope that yours are too^^ MUAHAHAHA!!! I'm insanely happy that I can't stop beaming. LOL. I must have looked like some crazy person in the car on my way back from work just now. HAHAHAHA!!! Okay, that's it. I'm going to end this post bluntly before anyone being traumatized by my overrated joy.

Okthxbye!

p.s: Will try my very best to keep this blog updated.
